Does Ostocalcium have any side-effects?
Women need 1000 to 1200 mg of Calcium every day. 1200 MG Calcium is required in special life stage pregnancy, lactation and menopause (ICMR, 2020). Your daily diet may not be sufficient in providing the required amount of Calcium. After 30, your bones may start losing losing Calcium, which may not be fully replenished by your diet. There are tolerable upper limits for nutrients (TULON) which means the maximum level of total chronic daily intake of a nutrient (from all sources) judged to be unlikely to pose a risk of adverse health effects to humans. TULON for Calcium in women is as follows:
A long-term intake of Calcium higher than the Tolerable Upper Limit (TUL) is known to have side-effects. Calcium can cause some minor side-effects such as belching or gas. High doses of Calcium should be avoided if person is having kidney problems. Calcium can interfere with absorption of some prescription medicines like antibiotics, thyroid replacement therapy and others. Separate Calcium and other medications by at least four hours. Consult your doctor if you are on prescription medicines or have any medical condition before taking Calcium.
Ostocalcium recommends supplementing your regular diet with 2 chewable tablets, which contain 500 mg of Calcium (20% of TUL for Adults). Thus, it is unlikely to exceed the Tolerable Upper Limit (TUL) for Calcium with Ostocalcium and daily regular diet.
